  • Build trust in Seattle Public Schools by establishing expectation of open, respectful dialogue between all constituencies.

  • Implement sound fiscal policies with appropriate accountability is fundamental to regaining public trust.
  • Hire a Superintendent with proven leadership abilities, strong communication skills, and fiscal understanding.
  • Establish academic and fiscal review of procedures, departments, and programs for value, accountability, and best practices.

3. How do you intend to solicit then communicate your constituent’s opinions and ideas;

Schedule monthly community meetings in West Seattle.
Advocate for additional meetings which provide for direct interaction between the Board, administration, and constituencies.
Develop an interactive website to inform and to solicit information from constituency groups.

4. In light of reduced state funding and the district’s financial mismanagement, are there areas of the budget that should be cut in order to maintain classroom programs;

We must maintain current classroom programs. Our students are in educational jeopardy due to reduced state funding. The decision to cut the budget plunges students into additional risk. If cuts to the budget are made, we must be absolutely certain there are no ramifications to essential classroom programs and services.
